How long to stay?
I plan four nights for you. Five nights leave more time for villages, rivers, forest and whale watching.
Nuquí and its coastal villages
People shop and load boats in the town centre. The small airport, shops and boat departure points are here. Nuquí lies in the Chocó department.
You reach many coastal areas by boat. Guachalito and Terquito lie south; other bays lie north of town. I plan journeys around the places you want to visit.
Flights to Nuquí and boat transfers
Reyes Murillo airport uses the code NQU. Regional flights through Medellín often use Olaya Herrera (EOH). International connections usually arrive at José María Córdova (MDE).
I arrange flight schedules, airport changes and baggage limits. Many accommodation providers south of Nuquí quote boat transfers of around 40–45 minutes. I coordinate collection, boat space and baggage with your accommodation.
I leave time before your next connection on the return day.
Guachalito, Termales, Joví and Coquí
Guachalito combines beach, forest and coastal accommodation south of Nuquí. Termales offers warm springs behind the village and time on the beach. At Joví, locally organised canoe or kayak trips follow the river.
Coquí combines village life, food and local history. I arrange these visits with local people. Northern bays lie in another direction and need their own boat journeys.

Rainforest, waterfalls and rivers
Trees grow in dense, damp forest behind the coast. Rivers and waterfalls extend the coastal landscape. A local guide accompanies you along forest trails or on a river journey.
Waterfalls lie near different villages and need different routes. Further north lies Utría National Park with its sheltered bay. I arrange your forest or river day from your accommodation.
Villages, crafts and food
Afro-Colombian and Indigenous communities live in the region. Local guides share their knowledge of sea, rivers and forest. I arrange village visits with local people.
Photographs require the consent of the people pictured. Fish, coconut milk, plantain and herbs feature in many dishes. Coquí connects food with local culture.
Nuquí offers crafts made from Wérregue palm fibres, Totumo and Tagua. Craftspeople explain their materials and methods.
Whale watching July to November
Whale watching July to November. Humpbacks travel to these warm coastal waters. Nuquí is a starting point for observation trips at sea.
I discuss the number of excursions and their organisation with you. The crew leaves the whales room to travel. Several coastal nights allow free afternoons and changes in activity order.

Rain, baggage, cash and connection
Nuquí stays warm and humid throughout the year. Light clothing, rain protection and forest shoes belong in your bag. Waterproof pouches and manageable baggage make boat journeys easier.
Cash helps with purchases and tips. I arrange information about power, hot water and Wi-Fi. Some accommodations use solar power with limited charging times.
Video calls require details about connection and work devices. For children, I plan accommodation access, boat journeys and daily activities.
Five days and four nights
I plan five days and four nights from your chosen coastal accommodation.
Arrival and coast
Flight to Nuquí, collection and boat to your accommodation. Afterwards, you have time to settle in.
Whales or sea
During the season, you head out whale watching. Outside the season, I plan a coastal excursion.
River and village
A local guide accompanies you on an excursion, for example to Joví. The afternoon stays free.
Termales or rainforest
Warm springs or a guided forest walk complement your stay. The day can accommodate a rescheduled activity.
Back to Nuquí
Boat transfer and return flight. I leave time before your next connection.
Take a look at Bahía Solano too
I plan your coastal stay around the villages, beaches and excursions that interest you.
