Surfing near Santa Marta
River water meets Caribbean waves, beneath forested hills behind the beach. East of Santa Marta begins a coastline with several surfing areas.
Your surfing journey reaches Mendihuaca, Los Naranjos or Casa Grande. Santa Marta can provide an urban stop. Surf arrangements concern the open coastal beaches east of the city.

Mendihuaca: surfing at the river mouth
The Río Mendihuaca reaches the Caribbean Sea here. Local surf schools use different sections around its mouth. Your accommodation's location determines access to the beach and riverbank.
Los Naranjos beside the Río Piedras
The Río Piedras marks Tayrona National Park's eastern boundary. The planned surfing area lies outside the park on the eastern side. Los Naranjos is also known as a venue for surfing competitions.
Casa Grande as another coastal base
Local surf providers name Casa Grande as a neighbouring surfing area. Your accommodation here can bring several beach days along this coast together. I discuss specific accommodation, beach access and local journeys with you.
City visit, beach time or further coast
Santa Marta adds its old town and further travel connections to the region. Palomino lies further east along the Caribbean coastline. A Tayrona visit receives its own excursion time within your itinerary.
