Colombia and Switzerland: my story
I was born in Cúcuta and grew up in Switzerland. Colombia is my birthplace, and I returned to explore it as an adult. In February 2026, I travelled there for about a month, mostly alone.
That journey and my enjoyment of organising travel led to Jairo Travel. I plan Colombia trips, from your first ideas and reservations to your return home.
My background explains why I want to know what brings you to Colombia. I ask which experiences matter and where arrangements would help you travel freely. For regions outside my experience, I research routes and arrangements.
You speak directly with me as I develop your itinerary or adjust your plans.

I am Manuel Flühmann. I travelled in Colombia in February 2026.
Two or three weeks: my recommendation
For 14 days in Colombia, I usually recommend three regions. Bogotá, Medellín and Cartagena combine city life, food and a Caribbean finish. If coffee and landscapes matter more, I replace Medellín with the Coffee Region.
Four regions mean more hotel changes and fewer free days. I can plan that faster route if you enjoy moving frequently.
With 21 days, I can include four or five regions. The longer example adds the Coffee Region and Santa Marta/Tayrona. You can also keep fewer bases and use the extra week for longer stays.
I can use the extra days for nature, food or time by the coast.
Three sample journeys
I adapt nights, hotels, activities and pace to your wishes.
Days are counted in Colombia, from arrival to departure. Your return to Switzerland may be the following day.

I leave your arrival day free. La Candelaria, a museum and Colombian food follow. Monserrate gets its own time slot.

I treat the move as a travel day. A city tour, neighbourhoods and food follow. There is time for Guatapé and a free day.
- Days 8–13 · 6 nights · Cartagena
This route includes six nights for Cartagena and its surroundings. I divide this stage between city visits, coastal time and rest. Any hotel change stays within those six nights.
- Day 14 · Departure
I compare return flights from Cartagena with connections through Bogotá. Any overnight connection stays within your 13 nights.
I connect your stages
I plan two domestic flights to Medellín and Cartagena. For your return, I compare Cartagena with connections through Bogotá. I arrange airport transfers at all three places.

After arrival, I leave time for the old town, a museum and Colombian food. I group journeys by city area.

I choose a base near Salento or Filandia. The coffee finca, Cocora Valley and villages get separate days. One afternoon stays free.
- Days 8–11 · 4 nights · Medellín
I leave your arrival day free after the transfer. A city tour, neighbourhoods and food follow. Guatapé can become a day trip.
- Days 12–15 · 4 nights · Cartagena
I plan the old town, Getsemaní and a free day. The coast near Tayrona follows.
- Days 16–20 · 5 nights · Santa Marta / Tayrona
I allow one day for the coastal journey. Nature and rest follow. I confirm park access and swimming options for you.
- Day 21 · Departure
I coordinate your return flight and connections. Any necessary Bogotá overnight replaces a night at the coast.
I connect your stages
I plan the flight from Bogotá to the Coffee Region. For Medellín, I compare flying with road travel. Then you fly to Cartagena.
The drive to Santa Marta gets a travel day. I coordinate your return flight from Santa Marta and its connection.

What would you like to experience?
Do you want slow mornings, long walks, new flavours or evenings in the city? Your answers help me decide where to stay and how long. I leave free days alongside guided visits.
For couples, I can include a quiet retreat. For a first visit, I arrange arrival and transfers so you can settle in.
If you travel alone, I can include activities where you might meet other travellers. The examples offer starting points for different budgets and interests. I also want to hear what you would prefer to avoid.
Medellín: what stayed with me
In February 2026, I took a city tour in Medellín and discovered its food. One memorable evening began alone in a bar. I gradually met more people and later joined them elsewhere.
I remember that openness alongside the city itself.
For your stay, I leave time for cafés, meals and afternoons without scheduled activities. A guided introduction can help you find your bearings. I give Guatapé its own excursion day, away from arrival and departure.
Cúcuta: the journey behind Jairo Travel
In Cúcuta, I met my former foster family and revisited my birthplace. I also returned to a hotel I remembered from childhood. My family collected me at the airport, and I felt I had never left.
After checking in, I shared a meal with them. It remains one of my clearest memories of the trip.
That return explains my connection to Colombia. It also reminds me how much a particular place can mean to someone. If a place matters to you, I start planning there.
Two ways to experience the Caribbean
In Cartagena, I allow time for streets, squares, meals and breaks from the heat. A hotel in the historic centre puts you close to the city’s evenings. A beach property outside town gives you a different stay.
If swimming matters, I research the beach and accommodation before suggesting a place.
In February 2026, I visited Playa Los Ángeles and a lodge near Tayrona. I enjoyed having coast and nature together. A lodge outside the park gives you a coastal base for outings.
I keep a long coastal transfer separate from a full nature day.

Choosing comfortable hotels and boutique stays
The examples start with comfortable hotels and boutique accommodation. I compare location, noise, room category, breakfast, access and travel time to activities. Stars and pool photographs only tell part of the story.
A historic-centre hotel may have lively evenings outside. A remote finca may involve another journey for dinner.
Your quote names the properties and room categories. I ask about balconies, twin beds, air conditioning, pools and accessibility before booking. For a honeymoon, I can include a few nights in a special room.
The rest of the route can combine city stays and quieter accommodation.
Transfers: from one hotel to the next
A short distance on the map can still take much of a day. I include packing, checkout, airport transfers, check-in, flights and baggage collection in the travel time. I keep booked activities light on transfer days.
For longer stages, I compare domestic flights and road journeys. For regional outings, I look for a base you can return to. Flight dates determine whether a direct connection is available.
Before your international return, I allow time for the connection. Where needed, I include a night in the departure city within your agreed trip duration.
How I calculate your travel budget
The sample prices cover hotels, transfers and excursions for two adults sharing a double room. They start with comfortable or boutique accommodation. I calculate new prices for solo travellers, families and other room arrangements.
A 14-day journey has 13 hotel nights; a 21-day journey has 20. A longer stay mainly adds accommodation costs.
Your quote lists flights, accommodation, booked breakfast, airport transfers, road transfers and agreed excursions. It also includes my planning and booking work. I compare baggage allowances, booking flexibility and room conditions.
You receive the total with the chosen services listed.
You can give me a per-person budget including flights, or leave the budget undecided. I then adjust regions, hotels or private services around your priorities. I explain how each change affects the price.
Your quote lists my planning and booking fee separately.
The introductory conversation and enquiry are free.
What I can arrange for you
I can arrange advice, your route, hotels, flights and activities. An introductory city tour and one organised nature day may be enough for you. I can leave the other days free.
I discuss the services with you before preparing the offer.
Your quote lists hotels, nights, booked breakfast, transport, activities and the conditions for each service. I also explain the support and contact arrangements before departure. You then know which parts are arranged and which choices remain open.
From your first idea to your return
In the free introductory conversation, I ask about dates, duration, travellers, budget and interests. A rough month is enough to begin. I also ask about frequent packing, long drives and guided programmes.
From your answers, I prepare a route with travel stages and overnight stays.
Next, I propose hotels, flights and other services. I discuss changes with you before you decide on the offer. After booking, I support you until your return under the agreed arrangements.
You can begin with a sample journey or places from the interactive map.

Frequently asked questions
Are two weeks enough including international flights?
Yes, I can plan a compact trip covering a few regions. With 14 holiday days, I shorten the route around your international flights. For example, I can reduce the Cartagena stay and keep three bases.
Can I visit Bogotá, the Coffee Region, Medellín and Cartagena in two weeks?
Yes, with a faster pace and fewer free days. For longer nature stays and beach days, I recommend three weeks or one fewer region.
When is the best time to go?
Bogotá is much cooler than the Caribbean coast, and rainfall varies by region. I match your dates to the places and activities you want. For nature outings, I leave time to adjust around the weather.
Do I need a rental car or domestic flights?
You can follow these routes without a rental car. I compare flights for longer distances and transfers or buses for regional journeys. I include luggage rules and connection time when comparing the hotel-to-hotel journey.
Can I combine a tour with beaches and Tayrona?
Yes, Cartagena and coastal or island time fit into a compact trip. With three weeks, I can add the Tayrona region and longer nature stays.
What budget should I allow?
Your first Colombia journey starts at CHF 1,499 per person for 14 days. Colombia with more time starts at CHF 2,999 per person for 21 days. Colombia for two starts at CHF 2,499 per person for 14 days.
The price conditions and additional expenses appear under “Good to know”.
What can I ask you to arrange?
I can arrange advice, your itinerary, hotels, flights, transfers and activities. I discuss the guided visits and support you want before preparing the quote. You can send me ideas or choose stops on the interactive map.
